Nomimated by the NY Chapter, 1998 JA of the Biennium awardee Peter Westbrook is being considered as a subject for a Walt Disney produced movie. Peter is America's most decorated Olympic fencer, having competed in six consecutive Olympic Games spanning from 1976 in Montreal to 1996 in Atlanta. He was bronze medalist in sabre fencing in 1984. Growing up in the streets of Newark, New Jersey of an African American father and a Japanese mother, Peter started work with inner city youth 12 years ago to give them an alternative to violence and social problems plaguing many of their communities. Today, the Foundation which he began with his own funds provides lessons in fencing as well as tutoring and other educational opportunities to hundreds of young people. In 2001 six of these athletes qualified for the Senior World Fencing Championships in Nimes, France.
